Rotary Club donates Nano to Kochi police

KOCHI: Setting an example, the Rotary Club of Cochin Downtown donated a Tata Nano car to the Kochi city police for patrolling purposes.
Rotary president J Paul Raj handed over the first car under the project named ‘Nano Patrol’ to minister for food and civil supplies Anoop Jacob and IG K Padmakumar during the Independence Day function held at St Albert’s College ground, Kaloor, on Wednesday.
Rotary Club officials said that the car could be used for patrolling purposes during adverse weather conditions when policemen find it difficult to ride motorcycles.
Rotary Cochin Task Force general convener Madhav Chandran said that the club would donate five Nano cars to the police in the first stage.
The Rotary Club, as part of its road safety campaign, also conducted a road safety rally on Independence Day.
