KOCHI: Five artists are conducting an exhibition titled ‘Chingam 2011,’ in memory of their friend S P Ramesh. The exhibition is being conducted at the Nanappa Art Gallery here. A psychiatrist by profession, Ramesh is best remembered by Malayalis for his music compositions in G Aravindan's movie 'Pokkuveyil'.
“He was very much like the character of the film,” T Kaladharan, who is part of the group of artists, said referring to Aravindan's above-mentioned work of fiction.
The movie portrays a poet who goes through an identity crisis. A lyricist and a music director, Ramesh was a popular figure in the 70s. Kaladharan remembers him as a poet at heart stuck in a doctor’s profession.
The exhibition, however, doesn’t have a theme relating to the composer, says Kaladharan, the owner of Nanappa Art Gallery. “There is no common theme followed; it's just a group initiative to celebrate the person that Ramesh was,” he said.
The artists’ group comprises K P Soman, K K Rajjappan, Jayesh Paroli, Lally Roshan and T Kaladharan.
