Poothrikka panchayat prez resigns from T20 over NDA alliance

Kochi: In protest against Twenty 20 (T20) joining the NDA fold, Poothrikka panchayat president Pooja Jomon resigned from primary membership of the party. She revealed this at a press meet in Ernakulam on Monday.Jomon, who submitted her resignation on Sunday, also alleged that T20 convenor Sabu M Jacob, who launched the party in 2015, threatened her indirectly over her decision to resign from the membership of the party. Jomon said she is politically secular, and joining the alliance of NDA would be deceiving the people who voted them to power. She also alleged that ward members of T20 in the panchayat isolated her for not supporting the decision to join the NDA fold. Jomon alleged that T20 convenor threatened her and referred to a previous party member who had resigned and allegedly met with an accident. Poothrikka panchayat is governed by T20 after it won in the draw following Congress and T20 securing seven wards each and CPM securing the remaining two.
