Police seize MDMA from tourist bus passengers in Kochi

Kochi: Police seized 123g of MDMA from two individuals, in separate incidents, from tourist buses coming from Bengaluru. The narcotics were seized following an operation carried out by the rural district anti-narcotics special action force based on a confidential tip.Police identified the arrested men as Midhun, 35, a resident of Veliyath, Chowara, from whom 90g of MDMA were seized and Alwin Francis, 19, a native of Valliyad, Alappuzha, who was found in possession of 33g of the drug.According to the police, Alwin had concealed MDMA in his shoes and was arrested at Angamaly after police intercepted the bus on the national highway. Midhun, on the other hand, hid the drugs in his shoulder bag and was caught at Athani during a routine vehicle check.Three held with MDMA in Muvattupuzha: Excise department arrested three men with 3.28g of MDMA, 5g of cannabis, three mobile phones and a firearm at Muvattupuzha on Wednesday evening. The contraband was allegedly intended for distribution among college students and individuals in the film industry.The arrested men were identified as Shalim Shaji, 28, from Pezhakkappally, Harish, 27, from Punnoppady Kara and Sajin, 37, from Kadathy.
