Police register case in kit supply row
Thrissur: Police on Monday registered a case over BJP activists allegedly distributing food kits from a godown at Vadanappally on Sunday. The case was registered after getting permission from Chavakkad magistrate court. The accused listed in the FIR was the godown's owner Kondrappassery Praveenjith. As per the FIR, the case was registered under different provisions of the BNS and People's Representation Act.Police had received a report from the poll officials about the incident, which was submitted to the court. UDF workers led by candidate T N Prathapan launched a protest in front of the godown and locked its gate when prominent BJP leaders including the actor-turned-politician Devan were seen inside the house located on the top floor. BJP leaders refuted the allegations and said they had no connection with the kit distribution. They alleged that the whole incident was a farce scripted by Prathapan to divert attention from the impending defeat. Prathapan said the sanction given by the court for registering the case was a clear indicator that the allegation was correct.
