Police invoke Kaapa against habitual offender

Kochi: Police have initiated action against three persons under Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (Kaapa).Ernakulam rural police invoked Kaapa against Alan Morris, 27, a resident of Khandakarnnan Veli, who is a habitual offender and externed him from the police limits.
He was externed from the district for six months. The order was issued by DIG Arul R B Krishna, based on a report by Ernakulam Rural district police chief. Police said that over the past five years, Morris was involved in numerous crimes, including attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, kidnapping and threats. The action followed his involvement in an attempted murder case registered by North Paravur police last July. Two held for Kaapa violation: Meanwhile, city police arrested Sajeev T V, 37, of Kunnathunad for violating a Kaapa order that restricted him from entering the city police limits. He was apprehended by a police team led by Ambalamedu police inspector Sajeev Kumar after he entered the police station limits in violation of the order. The arrested individual was presented in court and remanded to judicial custody. Rural police arrested another person for violation of a Kaapa order. Manaf, 37, from Chalakkal, Keezhmad, was arrested and jailed. He was exiled on Dec 18, based on a report by Ernakulam rural district police chief, due to his involvement in numerous cases, including attempted murder, robbery and assault. Aluva police registered a case and jailed him for entering Aluva East police station limits in violation of the order. Police said that anti-social elements and people with criminal history are strictly monitored as part of preventive efforts.
