IDUKKI: The duo who murdered a family of four at Kambakkanam here had returned after a day to the crime spot to bury the bodies and found that one of their victims – 17-year-old Arjun – alive, police investigators said on Monday. They then used a hammer to bludgeon him to death and buried four bodies in backyard pit.

The police on Monday recorded the arrest of Libish (28), a two-wheeler workshop owner and native of Karikode in Thodupuha. However, the police are yet to arrest Anish.
The bodies of Kanat Krishnan (51), wife Susheela (47), daughter Arsha (21), and son Arjun (17) were found buried in a pit in the backyard of their home on Wednesday. The autopsy report revealed that they were murdered brutally.
Anish had been working with Krishnan for the past three years and had started practicing black magic. Police said Anish felt that his powers were lost because Krishnan had destroyed them.
So, he hatched a plan to take away the magical powers from Krishnan by killing him and steal gold from the family. Anish and Libish had been friends for the past 15 years. Earlier, they used to work in a borewell company at

According to investigators Anish and Libish were plotting Krishnan's murder for the past six months. Finally, on Sunday they decided to execute it.
After reaching the house of Krishnan, they removed the electric fuse and entered the goat pen in the backyard. They caused injuries to the goats. Krishnan came out hearing the bleating of goats, he was attacked by Anish with an iron pipe.
Krishnan's wife Kamala was also attacked as she came out. But she managed to run away and enter the home but they hacked her to death.
On hearing the noise, Arsha, daughter of Krishnan came out, carrying an iron bar and hit Anish on the head. But the duo managed to overpower her. She was also bludgeoned to death by them. When Arjun, a mentally disabled boy, entered the room they attacked him too and decamped with gold and Rs 3,500 in cash, said Venugopal.
"As it was an isolated house, no one noticed the bodies lying inside. On Monday, the accused decided to bury the bodies and returned to the crime spot. They found Arjun alive and hit him with a hammer,” said Venugopal. The duo left the spot after burying the bodies and cleaning the house after ransacking it.
They had plans to clean the house again on Tuesday but abandoned it, said Venugopal.
The investigation is being carried out by a 25-member special police team under
Thodupuzha
DSP KP Jose.
As part of the investigation, the police used a special equipment to track mobile phone calls in the area.
