Police arrest migrant worker with 9kg ganja

Kochi: Ernakulam rural police arrested a migrant worker with 9kg of ganja from Bengal Colony in Perumbavoor.The accused, Rabeen Mandal, 24, of Murshidabad, West Bengal, was caught during ‘operation clean'. During the raid, the contraband was found hidden in secret chambers in his room by a squad led by the Perumbavoor ASP.The police suspect him to be a key player in the local drug racket that supplies ganja to migrant workers and students. According to the police, Mandal allegedly went by the name 'Robin Bhai' and sourced the contraband from Odisha.They said that Mandal, who earlier worked in a hotel, later turned to drug peddling. The police also seized Rs 10,000, suspected to be proceeds from the sale, during the raid.
