Police arrest 32-year-old man on charge of murder

Kochi: Njarackal police on Wednesday arrested a 32-year-old man on charge of murder. The arrested was identified as Vishnu of Murikkumpadam who allegedly murdered a man named Sabu Varghese, 53, of Manjali following a quarrel between them on Sunday.The police said the accused allegedly assaulted the victim inflicting severe injuries and left him in an abandoned old shed on Sunday night. He went absconding after the crime and a special investigation team constituted by the district police chief (Ernakulam Rural) traced him to Coimbatore and arrested him.Man verbally abuses KSRTC crew, damages busKochi: Kalamassery police on Wednesday arrested a 24-year-old man for verbally abusing KSRTC bus employees and damaging the bus. The arrested was identified as Akshay K Vijay of Kothamangalam.According to the police, the accused, who was driving his vehicle, turned violent alleging that the KSRTC bus did not give him way for overtaking. The bus was on its way from Nilambur to Thiruvananthapuram.He overtook the bus and then blocked its path at Koonamthai in Kalamassery. He then hurled abuses at the driver and the conductor and smashed the headlamps of the bus with an iron rod before fleeing the scene. The police later arrested him based on the complaint filed by KSRTC. He was remanded in judicial custody.Man held in Pocso caseKochi: A 67-year-old man was arrested by Kadavanthra police for sexually abusing a minor girl. The arrested was identified as Prakashan, a resident of Gandhinagar. He allegedly sexually abused a seven-year-old girl at Gandhinagar on Saturday.
