Palakkad crowned winner at 59th Kerala School Kalotsavam

ALAPPUZHA: In a nail biting finish,

Palakkad

was crowned the winner at the 59th Kerala School Kalotsavam that concluded in Alappuzha. The 2019 edition of the youth festival will be held in Kasaragod.


Since the 47th festival,

Kozhikode

had been consecutively emerging as the winners till last year. However, in the 2018 edition of the youth festival, Palakkad emerged as the winners with 930 points. Kozhikode and Palakkad had shared the first place in the youth festival in 2015. Palakkad clinched the title in a close battle with Kozhikode. Kozhikode earned 927 points, while the Thrissur was placed third with 903 points.

The memory of late musician

Balabhaskar

was brought to the mind of the audience when most of the contestants in ‘vrinda vadhyam’ staged the fusions having the signature of Balabhaskar. Almost all the venues on Sunday had audience in good attendance. A large number of families trickled into the venues of the youth festival.

The popular art form of mimicry failed to enthuse the crowd on the last day of the youth festival though many had gathered at Leo XIII LP School to witness it.

Flood was the main topics of the participants in the event. The inauguration of

Kannur

airport too came on the stage.
