Kochi: As many as 51 devices were seized in Ernakulam as part of the special operation ‘P-Hunt', targeting those who search for, collect and distribute child pornography on the internet.
Kochi city police cyber wing seized 22 devices and arrested three persons. Under Kochi city police commissioner Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar's instructions, 36 raids were conducted within city limits, led by various police station SHOs. One case each was registered at Maradu, Palarivattom and Thrikkakara police stations, and the accused were remanded, said police.

Meanwhile, Ernakulam rural police seized 29 devices, including mobile phones, and a 19-year-old from Kuzhuppilly was arrested. Raids were conducted at 46 locations across five subdivisions, led by a special police team. The operation aims to identify and take legal action against those who download, store, and distribute child pornographic images and videos from various porn sites.
Man held under Kaapa: A 45-year-old man, a habitual offender, was moved to preventive detention under Kaapa Act on Friday.
The action was initiated against Yasar Arafat (45), of Thoppumpady. He was moved to Viyyur central jail based on the Kaapa order issued by district collector, as per a report filed by city police deputy commissioner.
