NEW DELHI: A fifth person has died from injuries sustained in a fireworks explosion at the Anjoottanbalam Veererkavu temple near Neeleswaram, Kerala. The accident occurred late on October 28th.

Rajith, who suffered severe burns, passed away on Saturday morning at a private hospital in Mangalore. “He had suffered over 50 per cent burns,” an official confirmed.

This recent fatality brings the total death count to five. The Kasaragod district administration reported that 154 people were injured in the explosion. Out of the 100 initially hospitalized, 63 remain under medical care, with nine in intensive care.

Three individuals, including two members of the temple committee, are currently under arrest. They face charges under the Explosive Substance Act and sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in relation to the incident.
