MALAPPURAM: According to the district medical administration, the person who tested positive on Saturday is 46-year old man from Ponmundam near Tirur. He has been admitted to government medical college Manjeri.
The infected person had returned from Dubai on March 21. He traveled from
Sharjah
to Karippur in G9 454 Air Arabia flight and arrived at Karippur International Airport at 2.35am. After preliminary medical examination at airport, he went to his house in Ponmundam along with his brother, by car and he has been in strict home quarantine. But, after having fever, he approached government district hospital in Tirur on March 23 to give samples for
Corona
tests and he returned home in an ambulance arranged by health authorities. After he tested positive on Saturday he was admitted to Manjeri medical college.
District collector Jafar Malik has said that his health condition is satisfactory. Collector has appealed passengers of G9 454 Sharjah-Karippur flight to immediately contact the district level Corona control cell in Malappuram.
Meanwhile, 179 more persons were brought under observation in Malappuram as part of the measures to check the spread of Covid-19. With this the total number of persons who are under observation in the district has been increased to 11525. 80 persons are under observation in various government hospitals.
Among these 65 persons have been admitted to isolation wards in government medical college , Manjeri, which was declared as
Covid
special treatment centre. Others have been admitted to government district hospitals in Tirur and
Nilambur
and government Taluk hospital at
Tirurangadi
. 25 persons are under observation in Covid care centres. 11420 persons are under observation at their homes.
District medical officer K Sakkeena said that a total of 405 persons tested negative for novel corona virus infection in Malappuram so far. Results of the tests of 105 samples are yet to be received, she said.
