One held for posting derogatory comments against Malayalam actress Honey Rose

KOCHI: Police arrested a man on Monday and registered cases against at least 30 individuals for allegedly posting inappropriate comments on Malayalam actress Honey Rose's social media account. The actress filed a complaint on Sunday evening.

Kochi Central Police confirmed detaining a local man from the district, and investigations are continuing.

The individuals face charges under multiple sections of the BNS, specifically section 75, and section 67 of the IT Act. "Interrogation of the person in custody is going on," a police officer said.

The BNS section 75 addresses sexual harassment, whilst IT Act section 67 pertains to the electronic transmission of obscene content.
Police sources indicated that the cyber cell would assist in identifying the accused, followed by appropriate legal action. The police response followed the actress's Facebook post, where she detailed being stalked and subjected to sexually inappropriate comments across media platforms, which she stated violated her dignity.

The actress's post attracted numerous offensive comments, leading her to seek police intervention.

In her Facebook post on Sunday morning, Rose questioned the acceptability of someone insulting a woman merely because of their perceived financial superiority.

She withheld the identity of her alleged stalker.

According to her post, she had initially accepted the person's invitation to attend an event as a guest. She claimed that upon declining subsequent invitations, the individual began insulting her in retaliation.

Honey Rose has appeared in several Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu films.
