KOCHI: The Kerala high court has sought the views of the state government on implementing the recommendations of a panel that studies the demand for better wages and service conditions for nurses working in private hospitals.
Justice PV Kunhikrishnan asked the government to respond about implementing the recommendations made by a committee headed by Jagdish Prasad while considering a petition filed by Indian Professional Nurses Association.
A nine-member committee led by Jagdish Prasad was appointed by the union government on a directive issued by the
Supreme Court to study the wages and service conditions of nurses and give recommendations on making improvements.
The report was filed by the committee to the union government in 2016 and the union government asked the state governments to make laws to implement the recommendations. It is alleged in the petition that the recommendations have not been implemented in any state until now. The court will consider the case again on September 22nd.
