No one will be evicted over ‘waqf encroachment’ in Munambam: Surendran
Kochi: Not a single family of the over 600 families living in fear of losing their land due to "waqf encroachment" in Munambam will be evicted, said BJP state president K Surendran on Sunday. He was speaking to the activists of the land protection committee, who have been on a relay hunger strike for 113 days, demanding that they shouldn't be evicted from the land in Munambam."BJP is the only political party that stood with the protest since the beginning and will continue to do so until the end. Other political leaders who express solidarity in Munambam change their stance within 24 hours. It is a result of their distorted secular views," he said.Surendran challenged opposition leader VD Satheesan to maintain his previous stance that the land in Munambam does not belong to the waqf. "Once the Waqf Amendment Bill is passed in Parliament, a permanent solution to the "waqf encroachment", including in Munambam, will be achieved," he said.He demanded that the resolution passed unanimously by the Kerala legislative assembly against the Waqf Amendment Bill be withdrawn. He said all 28 MPs from Kerala should support the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament.
