Kochi: Navy Week to honour widows of sailors
KOCHI: This year’s Navy Week will have a day dedicated to widows of sailors, who sacrificed their life for the cause of the nation, as a mark of remembrance and respect. The special day for ‘Veer Naaris’ will be organised by the Navy Wives Welfare Association (NWWA) on November 27.
On Friday, commanding officer of INS Venduruthy and station commander Navy (Kochi) Commodore NAJ Joseph announced the plans for this year’s Navy Week.
The theme of this year’s Navy Week is ‘Indian Navy - Silent, Strong and Swift’.
Community services to Good Hoper Old Age Home at Fort Kochi will be held from November 6 to November 9. The elderly people of the old age home will be invited to INS Dronacharya and will be entertained by the Naval personnel. Veteran sailors will get an opportunity to interact with the Chief of Staff and other senior officers of the SNC and discuss problems faced by them on November 10.
