Missing man’s body recovered from Thodupuzha River

Thodupuzha: The body of a man who went missing while bathing in Thodupuzha River was recovered by a fire force scuba team on Wednesday morning. The deceased was Mohandas, 69, of Manakkad.Mohandas had gone to bathe at a ghat near his house around 7pm on Tuesday. However, he was reportedly swept away in the strong currents. As he did not come back after a long time, relatives launched a search and found his scooter and clothes near the riverbank. Following this, the fire and rescue services were alerted. A search operation was immediately launched under the leadership of station officer Piju P Thomas. The body was finally recovered near the ghat close to Manakkad temple. Mohandas's body was handed over to relatives after postmortem at Thodupuzha district hospital. He is survived by his wife Sujaya (document writer, Thodupuzha), children Ananthu, Anjitha and son-in-law Amal (all of them Dubai).
