Maradu case: Kerala govt appoints members of committee
The local body will finalise the agency or agencies to demolish the flats, on Friday after controlled implosion expert SB Sarwate inspects the apartments.
KOCHI: The Kerala government has appointed two members to the committee appointed by the Supreme Court to oversee process of compensation distribution to owners of flats, which will be demolished in Maradu. The two members are former chief secretary José Cyriac K and former chief engineer of of PWD (administration) Murukesan R. The government issued order on the appointment of the two members on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the order, issued by local self government (urban) department secretary in-charge says that the terms of reference of the committee will be issued later.
The committee is headed by Justice Balakrishnan Nair and the first sitting of the three members will be held on Thursday at Rest House in Ernakulam.
Meanwhile, Fort Kochi sub collector Snehil Kumar Singh, who is coordinating the entire procedures leading to the demolition of flats in Maradu, will submit the sale deed documents and banking details, furnished by the flats owners, to the committee on Thursday. He said eighty precent out of 343 families in the four controversial buildings submitted the documents sought by the Maradu Municipality.
