Razak was admitted to the hospital a few days ago following respiratory ailment and fever.

Born to Beeran Moideen Haji and Beefathima at Chengala in Kasaragod in 1955, Razak established himself as a businessman soon after completing school. Around this period, he was associated with

Muslim Youth League

. Razak went on to become the IUML’s national executive member.

He was the MLA of Manjeshwaram since 2011, when he defeated CPM leader C H Kunhambu by 5,828 votes. Earlier, he was also elected as Chengala panchayat president and

Kasaragod district

panchayat president.

In 2016, he had a dramatic victory in the assembly election by defeating BJP leader K Surendran by a slender margin of 89 votes. Following this, Surendran moved court, alleging electoral fraud, and the case is pending in the court. But Razak was least bothered about such controversies and bought a new Innova car, for which he got the registration number 89.
