Man killed in scooter accident in Ernakulam
Kochi: A 48-year-old man was killed after he met with a road accident along Container Road on Sunday night.
Police suspect it to be a case of hit-and-run. However, they are yet to confirm how the accident occurred or which vehicle was involved. Police held evidence collection at the site on Monday.
An FIR was registered for causing death by negligence. Police said that if the vehicle which caused the accident drove away without stopping, they will face more serious consequences as per Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. As per BNS, if a driver flees the accident site without reporting the incident to authorities, they face up to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine. The body was handed over to relatives after an autopsy on Monday.
