Man held for assaulting youth in road rage incident

Kochi: Vadakkekara police on Tuesday arrested a 42-year-old man for assaulting a youngster. The arrested was identified as Manoj of Chendamangalam who assaulted a Thuruthipuram native for allegedly not giving way for the former’s two-wheeler.According to the police, the incident pertaining to the case happened on April 18 at Munduruthy while Manoj was travelling on his motorbike. According to police, the complainant had allegedly ridden his motorbike in a way that blocked Manoj’s path. This led to Manoj’s motorbike hitting the rear side of the youth’s vehicle. The accused then proceeded to assault the youth using an iron rod, taken from the roadside, inflicting a fracture on his elbow and injuries on other parts of his body. The accused went absconding after a case was registered.He was arrested based on a tip-off received by Munambam DySP MK Murali.
