Man ‘guilty’ of nun’s murder

KOTTAYAM

: A court here found a serial offender guilty and convicted him for murdering a nun in a convent in Pala. Sathish Babu, 41, a Kasaragod native, was convicted by additional district and sessions judge K Kamanish for murdering the 69-year-old nun inside her room in Lisiex Carmelite Convent in Pala in the early hours of September 17, 2015. He has been involved in attack on nuns and burglaries in convents.


The person was convicted under IPC sections 302, 376, 457, and 449 which amount to murder, rape, housebreaking and criminal trespassing. The court will pronounce the sentence on Thursday. George Boban was the special public prosecutor in the case.

The nun was found dead in a pool of blood in her room on the third floor of the convent. She was found dead when fellow nuns came to the room after she failed to turn up for the morning prayers.

The culprit who found his way into the room used a blunt weapon to hit her on head.

Uttarakhand

after killing the nun.

He arrived in Haridwar on September 22 and was staying in an Ayyappa temple on Jassa Ram Road in Haridwar. Police traced and arrested him within a week.
