KOCHI: A 43-year-old man was arrested by Ernakulam Rural police on Wednesday in a murder attempt case registered three days ago. The arrested person was identified by police as Ratheesh alias Bhama Ratheesh of Puthuparambil house in Kuzhuppilly. He is accused of attempting to murder a middle-aged man in Kuzhuppilly.
According to Munambam police, Ratheesh stabbed a man named Sajeevan on Monday afternoon at Convent Road in Kuzhuppilly.
The victim was standing along the road and speaking to his brother-in-law. The accused, who came on a scooter, stabbed Sajeevan using a knife he kept on the vehicle. He went absconding after the incident.
The police said that the motive behind the crime was a personal grudge the accused had with Sajeevan.
The victim suffered a deep stab injury in his chest and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He is currently admitted at Government Medical College, Kalamassery, and his condition is said to be stable.
A team led by DySP MK Murali arrested the accused. The team consisted of inspector AL Yesudas, sub-inspectors VK Sasikumar, TS Saneesh and M Aneesh, additional sub-inspectors KS Sarish and civil police officer VM Devashine and VS Lenish. The accused will be produced before the court.
