Maharaja's to mark 100 years of college mag

KOCHI: Maharaja's College will celebrate the centenary anniversary of its first college magazine. Minister for ports Kadannappally Ramachandran inaugurate the event at the college on Monday.
As part of the celebration, college authorities will publish articles by famous personalities in the magazine.
The archives department of the college also has plans to launch various programmes aiming for the research and protection of the magazines.

"College magazines are famous for essays by famous personalities. There are even articles written by linguist L V Ramaswami Iyer in the magazine," said K N Krishnakumar at a press meet.
College authorities will also felicitate M Leelavathy, who is celebrating her 90th birth anniversary this year, during the function. There will also be an exhibition of books by Leelavathy and professor M K Sanoo, who were both the former lectures of the college, along with the exhibition of magazine archives.
The first magazine was released in 1918, celebrating the 60th birth anniversary of Ramavarma, the then king of Kochi. The magazinewas initially edited by P S Ramakrishna Iyer. Leelavathy will deliver the keynote address and MLA Hibi Eden will give the presidential address at the function.
