chief judicial magistrate court on Monday remanded

Maharajan Pechimuthu

, alleged king pin in the money-lending racket arrested from Chennai, in police custody for 10 days.

Meanwhile, dramatic scenes unfolded in the court as the magistrate allegedly did not give time for the prosecutor for further argument after remanding Maharajan. The magistrate's alleged refusal to hear him irked the prosecutor, who raised objection inside the court room. But the magistrate left the room after suspending all procedures.

The investigation team led by DCP (administration and crimes) P C Sajeevan will interrogate the accused.

The court on Sunday granted Maharajan interim bail for one day on technical grounds. He was asked to appear in the court on Monday.

circle inspector K G Aneesh arrested Maharajan from Chennai after firing in the air to disperse a mob who tried to prevent his arrest. Maharajan has lent money reportedly to the tune of Rs 500 crore to people from various parts of the state.

Maharajan is facing several charges, including forgery, extortion and cheating under various section of the IPC.
