Leelavathy bags Kadammanitta award

Kochi: Noted literary critic Prof M Leelavathy bagged the Kadammanitta Award, instituted by Kadammanitta Foundation. Former education minister and CPM politburo member MA Baby presented the award to Leelavathy at a function held at her house in Thrikkakara on Monday."As I traverse the final chapters of my life, I sometimes wonder if I have lived this long just to receive this award in Kadammanitta's name. I am uncertain about how deserving I am of this honour," said Leelavathy, after receiving the award. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs 55,555, a memento and a plaque designed by artist Bhattathiri.However, Leelavathy donated the prize money to chief minister's relief fund. Industries and law minister P Rajeeve accepted the amount on govt's behalf.
