KOCHI: Vaikom town is all decked up to host a series of events, as Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee’s (KPCC) Vaikom Satyagraha centenary celebrations will begin on Thursday.
AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge will inaugurate the year-long celebrations at Vaikom. Prior to the inaugural conference, different rallies led by prominent Congress leaders, which started from various historically important places in Kerala, will conclude at T K Madhavan Nagar, the venue of the conference at Vaikom.
Eminent personalities will inaugurate various cultural meetings to be held along with the culmination of the processions and the rallies.
KPCC working president Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, is leading the Kerala Navodhana Smriti Jatha, KPCC working president T Siddique is leading the Malabar Navodhana Nayaka Jatha, MM Hassan is leading the Mahatmaji Chayachithra Jatha, EVKS Ilankovan, MLA, is leading the Vaikom Veerar Chayachithra Jatha and Anto Antony is leading the Vaikom Satyagraha Rakthasakshi Smritichitra Jatha being organized as part of the celebrations.
Ayithochatana Jwalaprayanam led by MP Adoor Prakash will light the flame at TK Madhavan Nagar marking the commencement of the celebration programme on Thursday morning. The state-level general conference will begin at 3pm.
KPCC president K Sudhakaran will preside over the inaugural function. AICC general secretary KC Venugopal will be the chief guest. Opposition leader VD Satheesan, AICC general secretary Tariq Anwar, AICC secretary Viswanatha Perumal, EVKS Ilangovan, Ramesh Chennithala, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, other eminent personalities like former KPCC presidents, AICC office bearers, political committee members, KPCC office bearers, DCC presidents, MPs, and MLAs will attend the function.
