KOCHI

: City police have arrested three persons for allegedly duping job aspirants of several lakhs by promising them admission to a prominent private medical college in the city.


The arrested are Anoop Chandran of Vaikom, Jagalkumar of Nadakkavu and Sasidharan P V of Nadapuram.

Police said the accused used to run a bogus institution which used to provide educational guidance. They used to pose as agents to take huge sums from aspiring medical students by promising them seats in lieu of a non-existent donation. The accused used to cheat students who wanted admission for paramedical courses, police said.

Cheranelloor police have registered the case after receiving a complaint from a city hospital, name of which the accused was used to dupe aspiring students.

While one of the accused was arrested on Sunday, the other two were nabbed on Saturday. Police said that all the accused would be remanded in judicial custody by Monday.
