KOCHI: Justice V R Krishna Iyer Movement has written to the district collector about the lack of adequate bus services to the Government Medical College, Kalamassery, and Cochin Cancer Research Centre.
In the discussion organized by Justice Krishna Iyer Movement on February 19, regarding the development activities of the medical college, they had raised the issue.

"Number of daily outpatients in the medical college is 1,500 to 2,000. Due to inadequate bus services to the hospital, the patients and families spend huge amount on paying for taxi or autorickshaws," said Dr Sanilkumar of Justice Krishna Iyer Movement.
Patients from Moovattupuzha, Piravom, Perumbavoor, Malayattoor, Fort Kochi and Aroor have minimal access to the medical college. "More KSRTC and private buses are needed. A circular bus service from Aluva KSRTC depot to Vytilla mobility hub, connecting Aluva Metro station, HMT Junction and medical college would be helpful," he added.
On Tuesday, Vypeen MLA S Sarma had held a discussion with KSRTC zonal executive in this regard and submitted proposals.
Though a bus terminal was inaugurated with much fanfare at Kalamassery in 2018, it has mostly remained unutilized.
