KOCHI: On World Environment Day, the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) will launch a green drive by planting 2,000 saplings in various educational institutions in the city. The Metro agency has also announced a plan to create 'Metro Gardens' in several schools with medicinal plants and fruit bearing trees.
For the green drive, KMRL will join hands with Kerala CBSE School Management Association, Al-Ameen Educational Trust, Government Polytechnicm at Kalamassery and Sree Narayana Vidyapeeth at Thripunithura.
The agency will plant 500 saplings in the premises of Government Polytechnic, Kalamassery, in three months. On Thursday, Benny Behanan MLA will inaugurate KMRL's environment day celebrations at 2.30pm in Al-Ameen Public School.
