ALAPPUZHA: An Alappuzha court on Friday awarded life term to two brothers for murdering a 19-year-old boy at Pallippad near Haripad.
The Alappuzha District Additional Sessions Court-III judge PN Seetha awarded life term to Shyam Das, 31 and his brother Sharon Das, 29, of Haripad for murdering Sarath Chandran.
As per the judgement, both the convicts would also have to pay a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh each.

The other two convicts- Hareesh and Sunil Kumar- who helped the brother duo in escaping from the crime scene, should undergo three year's imprisonment. The court also ordered to pay Rs 2 lakh of the fine amount to the parents of Sarath Chandran.
The murder took place on a cricket ground in Pallippad in March, 2011. According to the prosecution, Sarath Chandran was killed by the two brothers when the victim prevented them from consuming liquor at the ground. Sarath Chandran died after they hit him on his head with a cricket stump. Additional public prosecutor P P Geetha, advocate P P Baiju and advocate Arya Sadasivan appeared for the prosecution side.
It was on Thursday, Shyam and Sharon were found guilty by the court as per the IPC sections 302 (murder), 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means). Hareesh and Sunil Kumar were found guilty under IPC section 212 (harbouring offender).
