KOZHIKODE: Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM), a Salafi organization in Kerala, has cautioned that the pro-Turkey stand of certain outfits such as Jamaat-e-Islami has serious security ramifications for the country.
KNM secretary A I Abdul Majeed Swalahi said Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan is using the sentiments of Muslims all over the world to project himself as the new caliph of the Muslim world.

“Erdogan has tied up with Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan and had made attempts to intervene in the Kashmir issue. He has some ambitious plans in countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka,” Swalahi said. “Erdogan has intervened in the issues in France to project himself as the champion of Muslims. I don’t think that his move is propelled by genuine love for Prophet Muhammad. He is merely utilizing the chance,” he said.
Saudi Arabia has been boycotting French products to protest the attempts by France to destabilise the Muslim world. But Erdogan jumped into the fray and called for another boycott of French products in the wake of recent developments. This is sheer one-upmanship, Swalahi said. He expressed belief that Erdogan has been the promoter of the ideology of Muslim Brotherhood in recent times.
“Brotherhood is the model for organizations such as Jamaat and Popular Front of India. Their main aim is to create trouble in areas where Muslims are living peacefully,” he said. “These kinds of forces foment trouble such as chopping the palm of T J Joseph and then portray themselves as protectors of Muslims,” Swalahi said. The KNM leader alleged that the propaganda machinery of Jamaat and PFI are mobilized in Kerala to marshal support for the Turkish president.
Swalahi said Erdogan is pursuing his agenda of reviving the Ottoman caliphate and his intervention in countries like Syria, Libya and Azerbaijan is suspicious. Erdogan may do the same in India and his utterings on Kashmir is a dangerous sign, he said.
