NEW DELHI: Kerala police have launched a manhunt for a murder suspect after an elderly woman and her daughter were found dead in their home in this central Kerala district.
The primary accused is Premkumar, aged 43, who is married to the daughter and has previous criminal records, authorities confirmed on Thursday.
The deceased were found on Wednesday when residents of Padiyoor village alerted authorities after detecting a putrid odour emanating from the residence, according to police reports.
The authorities at Kattoor police station were notified, following which the deceased were transported to the Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Investigators believe the victims likely died from strangulation or asphyxiation.
Police records indicate that Premkumar was previously released on bail after being charged with the murder of his first spouse in 2019, whom he allegedly buried in a forested area.
The authorities now suspect he has committed another homicide.
A law enforcement official confirmed that a search operation is currently in progress to locate the suspect.
Investigators suggest that domestic discord might have led to these recent killings.
