KOCHI: Though she was devastated, Babu’s mother said she had unflinching faith in the rescue teams who were roped in to bring her son to safety. It was around 3pm on Monday that she came to know that her son was trapped on a crevice on the hill.

, around 2km from her home.

Throughout the rescue mission that lasted for more than 40 hours she camped in the area listening to the updates from people’s representatives and the district collector about the progress of the rescue efforts.

“I was hopeful that the Army personnel would rescue him. I am very thankful to each and every one who took part in the operation. I am also thankful to God,” said 42-year-old Rasheeda.

"People even came from other districts to participate in the rescue operations. They camped here and offered me support. Many people asked me why I didn't cry after Babu went missing. I was tense. But I never cried. Because, if I start crying I will struggle to control myself. I felt at ease when I saw Army troops coming,” she said. "I will scold him thoroughly and will advise him not to make such mistakes again,” Rasheeda added.
