KOCHI: The high court on Wednesday got two new judges, bringing the total number of serving judges to 32.
In a special ceremony held at the chief justice's court on Wednesday morning, chief justice Manjula Chellur administered the oath to justice P Ubaid and justice Abraham Mathew.
Justice Ubaid, who was serving as the principal sessions judge of Ernakulam, hails from Kadappadi in Malappuram.

Justice Mathew was working as the principal sessions judge in Thodupuzha and is from Chembu near Vaikom. Both of them entered judicial service in 1988. Justice Mathew had been the director of Kerala Judicial Academy for many years.
Procedures related to appointment of four more high court judges is on the anvil, with sources indicating that they would be sworn in by mid-January. With their appointment, the total number of high court judges would be 36. However, by the end of this year, the number would again drop to 31 as five sitting judges would retire this year itself.
