Kerala: Friend hacks short film director to death

KOCHI: A short film director was allegedly hacked to death by his friend at a lodge in Kothamangalam on Friday.
The deacesed has been identified as Jayan (29) of Perumbavoor. His friend Joby (28), of Neriyamangalam, surrendered before police confessing to the crime.
According to police, the duo was staying in the lodge for the past one month.
Police said Joby often used to question Jayan for not going to work.
Police said on Thursday night Jayan and Joby had a heated argument over the issue after consuming liquor.
Infuriated over this, Jayan attacked Joby and injured him on his forehead.
This forced Joby to hack Jayan with a kitchen knife. Joby then slept in the room with Jayan's body.
When Joby woke up, he told the incident to his friends who advised him to surrender before the police.
The Kothamangalam police will produce the accused in the court on Saturday.
