CM launches diamond jubilee celebrations of SMS, Cusat

Kochi: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the diamond Jubilee celebrations of the School of Management Studies (SMS) at Cochin University of Science and Technology during a ceremony held at the university's syndicate hall on Saturday. Established in 1964 as part of Kerala University's Kochi Campus, SMS was founded by professor Dr MV Pylee who served as its first director.
In his inaugural address, Vijayan highlighted the significance of SMS, noting that it is one of the oldest business schools in the country. He emphasized the school's pivotal role in cultivating individuals who have made substantial contributions to the socio-economic development of Kerala. "The govt has allocated Rs 1 crore to SMS, underscoring its commitment to supporting the educational excellence of this institution," said Vijayan.
The School is celebrating 60 years of academic excellence through a series of events, including international conferences, global alumni meet-ups, and conclaves. The inauguration was attended by P Rajeeve, minister for industry, coir, and law, Hibi Eden MP, Cusat vice chancellor M Junaid Bushiri and SMS director Zakkariya KA.
