Kerala: Case against parents of child who fell off jeep

police have filed a case against parents of the one-year-old child Rohita who fell from a moving jeep and miraculously escaped at 5th Mile near Rajamala on Sunday night. The case has been registered under Section 308 of the Juvenile Justice Act pertaining to carelessness of parents in handling children.


Munnar deputy SP M Rameshkumar said they would probe if the incident was really an accident. The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has also sought an explanation on the matter from the district police chief and district collector.

The parents said they would face the case legally. “Our daughter had accidentally fallen from my wife Sathyabhama’s lap. Sathyabhama was under medication and she was tired,” Rohita’s father Sathish said.
