KANNUR: Naveen Babu, the additional district magistrate (ADM) of Kannur, was found dead in his quarters at Pallikunnu on Tuesday morning, just a day after his colleagues, including the Kannur district collector, bid him farewell.
Babu was scheduled to return to his home district of Pathanamthitta to assume the role of ADM there.
During the farewell ceremony, P P Divya, the district panchayat president and a member of the ruling CPI(M), raised allegations against Babu.
Despite not receiving an official invitation, Divya attended the event and criticized the ADM for delaying the approval of a petrol pump in Chengalai for several months.
In the presence of the district collector and Babu's colleagues, Divya accused the ADM of granting approval only two days after being transferred, implying that she was aware of the reasons behind this sudden decision.
She also mentioned that more information would be disclosed within two days.
After delivering her speech, Divya refused to stay for the presentation of a memento, stating that she did not wish to stand for it, and subsequently left the stage.
