Justice Jamdar named Chief Justice of Kerala High Court

Kochi: Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar of the Bombay High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court by the President of India, succeeding Justice AJ Desai, who retired in July. The Supreme Court collegium had previously approved and recommended his appointment.Born into a family of lawyers in Solapur in Maharashtra in 1964, Justice Jamdar represents the third generation in his family to pursue a legal career. He received his education in various schools across Maharashtra and went on to earn degrees in Commerce and Law from Sydenham Commerce College and Government Law College, Mumbai.Justice Jamdar practised primarily at the Bombay High Court, focusing on administrative and constitutional law. He represented several public bodies, including zilla parishads, municipal councils, municipal corporations and universities. He also represented the Bar Council of India and served as senior standing counsel for the Union govt. On Jan 23, 2012, he was appointed as a judge of the Bombay High Court.
