Kochi: A youth, allegedly under the influence of intoxicants, threatened a family residing on Kovilakam Road near Thykoodam metro station on Sunday around 10.00pm. The allegation was that the youth created a ruckus in the area. He is also accused of attempting to trespass into a house and verbally abusing the house owner. The family raised the alarm after the youth forcefully grabbed the owner by his shirt.
Residents alleged that around six others came to the spot when the youth phoned someone and they left soon after. A complaint was filed with Maradu police. Meanwhile, the residents of Thykoodam Kovilakam Road Residents Association (TCRA) are planning a joint agitation against drug peddling and connected law and order issues.
Two held with MDMA: Ernakulam rural police arrested two accused with MDMA from Perumbavoor on Sunday night. Jubair, 26, of Thandekkad and Ajmal, 25, of Ponjassery were apprehended by a special investigation team led by the Perumbavoor ASP. Acting on a tip-off, they were taken into custody from the Pattippara area of Ponjassery.
According to police, they were selling the substance in small packets, while riding around on a scooter. The investigation team monitored them for some time before the arrest. The investigation team included Perumbavoor ASP Shakti Singh Arya, inspector TM Sufi, SIs PM Rasikh and Joshi Thomas, ASI PA Abdul Manaf, and senior CPOs TA Afsal, Varghese Venatt, Benny Isaac, Nizamuddin and Naveen made the arrest.
