Kottayam: The International Folklore Seminar ‘Karika', organised by the School of Letters, MG University, in association with Dr VC Harris Vaijnanika Sadas, Mumbai-based Keli, Ksheersagar Apte Foundation and Music Mumbai, will commence on Tuesday. The four-day programme will be inaugurated by CT Aravindkumar, Vice Chancellor, MG University and will conclude on the Oct 25.
The seminar will cover various topics and fresh perspectives related to folklore, folk culture and history. There will be plenary sessions addressed by scholars, paper presentations, conversations with artists and performances as part of the seminar. The VC Harris Memorial Lecture will be delivered by KM Seethi on the inaugural day.
In the conversation programme, artists like N Bhattathiri, Padmasree Ramachandra Pulavar, Britto Vincent, Sreevalsan Menon and Roy Georgekutty will participate. The cultural programmes curated for the event include performances such as a music concert by Sreevalsan Menon, Chavittunatakam led by Georgekutty Asan, Thayambaka by Mattannur Sreeraj and Shadow Puppet Theatre by Ramachandra Pulavar, Rajeev Pulavar, and group. Aju Narayanan is the coordinator of the first edition of ‘Karika'.
