In freak accident, youth electrocuted to death

Kottayam: A youth was killed in a mishap when he was electrocuted after a tipper truck's load body came in contact with a live 11kV line in Changanassery on Monday. The deceased was identified as Sijo Raju, 28, a Mambuzhakkary native, who arrived in the area to replace the old tyres of the truck with new ones.Raju arrived at the place in the morning and was waiting for the driver to unload the new tyres, which were on the load body of the truck. As the driver lifted the load body using the hydraulic system, the tyres failed to slide down despite the back door being opened. According to primary reports, Raju, who touched the tipper truck's back door, was electrocuted as the load body came in contact with the overhead 11kV line. Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital, his life could not be saved.
