IMD forecasts isolated heavy rainfall for two days

Kochi: IMD has issued an isolated heavy rainfall warning for the state on Thursday and Friday.
A cyclonic circulation lies over north coastal Tamil Nadu and neighbourhoods between 4.5- 5.8km above mean sea level and a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around Friday. Under the influence of these systems, a low-pressure area is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal during subsequent 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move west northwestward with possibility of gradual intensification.
Rain or thundershowers is most likely to occur at many places in Kerala on Tuesday and from September 27 to October 1. Yellow alerts have been issued for Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Wayanad on Thursday. Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod are under yellow alert on Friday.
Squally weather with wind speed of 40-45kmph gusting to 55kmph is likely to prevail over Southwest Bay of Bengal and Sri Lanka coast.
According to the 24-hour rainfall recorded on Monday morning, Aluva and Vadakara received 3cm each.

The monsoon is expected to withdraw within the next 24 hours, and a new cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the north Andaman Sea and its surrounding areas on September 29. This new system could bring more rainfall along the eastern coasts at the end of this month and early October. Chennai likely to get moderate rainfall: IMD

Residents in Chennai woke up to surprise rain on Thursday, which was triggered by a trough of low pressure in the atmosphere. Weather forecasters predict that this rainfall is just the beginning, with more expected in the coming days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rain in the city and suburbs for the next two days. The rainfall is due to a cyclonic circulation and a trough running from Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu. Chennai has already recorded 71% above normal rainfall since June 1.

Heavy rain lashes Hyderabad, yellow alert issued for north Telangana

Heavy rains hit Hyderabad early on Friday morning, with MCRHRD campus recording 70.3mm rainfall. Banjara hills also experienced heavy rainfall, with 67.3mm recorded. The rainfall lasted from 1am to 3am and covered the entire city. There were 35 complaints received by the Disaster Relief Force, mainly related to water stagnation and fallen trees. In other parts of Telangana, such as Warangal, heavy rains were also reported, with Parvathgiri recording 141.3mm downpour. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for north Telangana districts.
