NEW DELHI: Police on Tuesday launched an investigation after a human skeleton was discovered inside a suitcase in a plot adjacent to a church cemetery in this south Kerala district.
The East Kollam police indicated that determining the skeleton's age requires thorough scientific analysis, and no conclusions have been made yet.
Officials believe someone likely discarded the suitcase containing the skeletal remains by throwing it from the roadway into the burial grounds.
Workers conducting maintenance activities discovered the remains in an untended, vegetation-covered section of the property.
Upon finding the remains, they promptly alerted the police authorities.
