HC decision on Sathyabhama’s plea today

Kochi: The high court will pronounce its judgment on the pre-arrest bail plea of noted dancer Sathyabhama on Friday in a case related to alleged racist remarks she made against fellow Mohiniyattam dancer RLV Ramakrishnan during a YouTube interview.

The bench of Justice K Babu reserved its judgment on Thursday after completing the arguments from both the petitioner and the respondents. Previously, Ramakrishnan had filed a complaint against Sathyabhama at the Cantonment police station in Thiruvananthapuram regarding her alleged comments, and a case was registered on March 30, including offences under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Although Sathyabhama filed an anticipatory bail application with the special court in Nedumangad, it was rejected on April 22. Consequently, she approached the high court.
