Govt allots Rs 1Cr for tribal settlement development
Kochi: The state govt has sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the comprehensive development of the Pinavurkudi tribal settlement in Kuttampuzha panchayat. Kothamangalam MLA Antony John said that the allocation of the funds under the Ambedkar Settlement Development Scheme will help in the development of the area.
Earlier, the govt had allocated Rs 1 crore under the same scheme for the development of Elamblassery and Thera tribal settlements in the Kuttampuzha panchayat. Additionally, renovation projects worth Rs 1 crore were implemented for the Erupuram SC Nagar in Keerampara panchayat and Mundur SC Nagar in Kottapadi panchayat. All these areas lack infrastructure facilities.
"Apart from these, Rs 1 crore has now been allocated for the renovation of the Pinavurkudi tribal settlement. Discussions will be held with the community to implement the development projects and necessary follow-up actions will be taken," the MLA said. "The development of tribal settlements is one of the top priority areas of the state govt," he added.
