Ganja powder worth ₹10L seized

Kochi: The railway protection force (RPF) and the excise enforcement and anti-narcotics special squad in Kochi seized ganja powder worth Rs 10 lakh from Ernakulam South railway station on Sunday evening. The contraband weighing around 48kg was seized during a flash raid. The RPF suspect that the consignment would have been smuggled in via train from North India and was abandoned there out of fear of getting caught. Excise registered a case and launched a probe.Man held under COTPA: A 35-year-old man was arrested by Maradu police on charges of selling banned tobacco products to school children. The arrested was identified as Vinay Kumar of Uttar Pradesh. The police seized 120-odd packets of banned tobacco products from him.Two held for theft: Elamakkara police on Monday arrested two people in separate theft cases. The arrested were Sudheesh (30) of Wayanad and Sebastian (46) of Kadavanthra. They are accused of breaking into a church in Edappally and a toy shop, respectively.
