Furniture unit gutted in fire

Kochi: A major fire gutted a furniture manufacturing unit, housed in a 20,000 sq ft building, at Puthuvype on Tuesday morning. The blaze consumed the furnitures and machineries in Ruth Interiors, owned by Joy Thomas of Puthuvype. A short circuit is suspected to have triggered the blaze, which was doused by eight units of fire and rescue forces from various fire stations. It took three hours for the units to douse the fire. The estimated loss is more than Rs 40 lakh. Vypeen fire station got a call about the fire at 5.10am.tnn
